For what seems like forever at this point, many Microsoft Office enthusiasts have been awaiting a more robust version for iPad than the current Microsoft Office Mobile for iOS.
Today, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that the new Microsoft Office for iPad suite is available for free from the Apple App store beginning at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. It includes:
- Microsoft Word for iPad
- Microsoft Excel for iPad
- Microsoft PowerPoint for iPad
- Microsoft OneNote for iPad (already existed but updated)
To access full features in Microsoft Office for iPad, an Office 365 subscription is necessary.
I am testing the apps now and will be posting my full review after using them over the weekend, so check back for a run-down of more than 40 core features in this new iPad version of the classic Microsoft Office productivity suite.
A new enterprise offering known as the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite was also introduced, which I will be writing more about as well.
